The Sgian Dubh evolved from a larger Scottish dagger that was normally concealed under the armpit. It was common practice when visiting friends to remove this dagger from its hiding place and insert it in the top of your sock so that is could be seen at all times. Sgian Dubh translates as “Hidden Knife” in the old Gaelic language.

Our Sgian Dubh features a blunt steel blade, hardwood grip and decorated cast steel fittings. It comes complete with a leather covered wooden sheath.
