Our Hand and a Half sword features a high carbon EN42J Spring Steel blade that has been forged and tempered to perform like their historical counterparts. It has a core hardness of 45HRC approx. with an edge hardness of 50HRC approx. The hilt features a authentically styled forged guard and pommel constructed from steel, and a wooden grip that is masterfully wrapped in leather cord for an aesthetic yet comfortable finish. It comes complete with leather wrapped wooden scabbard.
The broad blade is designed for slashing and the long point of balance gives this sword a lot of cutting power. The 2mm edge makes this sword useable for HEMA (drilling not sparring) and stage combat. These thick edges make the sword heavier in the hand, but provider a much higher level of durability and safety than 1mm edged blades. The rounded tip adds further safety.
This “Hand and a Half Sword” is designed to replicate a 13th century longsword.
